Changing wheel studs on a 96 Tahoe 4×4?
How do I change the studs on a 96 Tahoe, Do they have to be pressed out or am I going to be able to do it myself? If anyone can give me a heads up of what I’m headed into that would be great. I know about taking the calipers offs along with the mount and rotor and unplugging the sensor wire. It’s the parts after that I would like a heads up on. Thanks!
You can do it yourself, but it’s allot of work. You can get a maul hammer and beat them out, then use a socket and pipe to get them back in, but once you start beating on them there is no turning back.
My suggestion is take them to a tire shop. They have the equipment to do it right and quick. It should only take them a couple of minutes to replace one whole side to about 5 to 10 minutes for you to do just one by hand. Plus it shouldn’t cost too much for them to do it. Maybe $20 per wheel.
